…if you build it they will come…

mike loves this line from an early eighties film when kevin costner was hot (for those who even know who he is)…actually its kind of his mantra…and he successfully convinced me to open a swanky beautiful studio where inspiration will arrive daily as will plenty of clients…

this project also - closer to my heart - returns our home to our home…no more mad rush to tidy the front yard from skateboards and bikes, no clearing of shoes and boots from the back door, no daisy wandering in during a client session all cute with just knickers on and a handful of playdough…

we open the doors at 9 and close the doors around 4…we have coffee and chat to each other from our separate workstations (mine - spotless, mikes - rubbish tip) friends, collegues, brides, grooms and mums visit and swoon and ask who was the interior decorator (shucks) and praise how far we have come in such a short time and our dedication to our profession…

it is all very humbling…

and quite special…

and we even receive lovely “studio-warming” gifts like delectable mud cake wrapped in a gorgeous red handbag from wedding cakes by nicole…yes she is sweet and the rumour that we devoured it for friday night dinner is completely true…

so babe…we did it…you painted, i chose pictures, you installed lights and airconditioners, i bought pretty red things, you hauled furniture and computers, i arranged geraniums, you fought with telstra, i cried in my coffee…

you have achieved so much - so much sooner than you ever could have imagined - my heart aches with pride as i watch you tick one more of the list - and even though i am dreading the next “big” thing, i will hang on and enjoy the ride…love you x

the new studio is at 61 minninup road bunbury, sandwiched between brooke fiore hair and beauty and the mangles corner store…we have lovely neighbours!

dear daisy…

…today you begin pre-primary…five days a week…all day…

our early morning beach frolicking must come to an end, with much sadness, as now the mornings will rush into breakfast (no more stopping at the fruit man in the car park) and school clothes (no more lazing around in our swimmers until lunch) and watching the clock (no more “wow - is that the time?”) and plaits with clips (oh how i will miss the beach hair)…

i hope you will remember the sticky sand and the wind in our voice laughs and the overly friendly dogs…

i hope you will remember when we laid on our towels and closed our eyes and listened to the ocean…

i hope when you are a young woman, with a family, you realise and understand why i worked - every day- and this is the first summer we began our tradition…

i hope each summer from here on is filled with more laughter than you can possibly imagine and less sand on your bottom…

i hope next summer i return to a size 10 and a red polka dot bikini (oops…did i say that out loud?)

and to our dear sweet lucy (”kyles - puullleeaase no more photos of me on the blog”) who begins her first day of high school - even though it seems only yesterday she happily posed for portraits…you go girl!

wedding blog posts just around the corner…promise…
