act one scene one: “it is 3 o’clock on a saturday afternoon in winter. a handsome man waits impatiently and just a little nervous in front of a large open fireplace. next to him stand two elegant gentlemen occasionally murmuring words of encouragement. a solitary woman stands before them patiently; and behind, a gathering of anxious faces - some seated, some standing. a low murmur sounds around the room. our scene is set”
mat and katy, the production, features two star crossed lovers as the lead players and an assortment of “radio-heads” as the supporting cast and audience. the scenery was pure eye candy and the finer details intricate, original and perfectly vintage. sit back, relax, sip on your hot tea from a china cup and feast your eyes on our first wedding of the season…
katy designed, printed, bound and presented the invitation suite…
an ebay/etsy queen, as well as the most insane shopper i have ever met, katy squealed with delight then gasped with horror then gave a carefree giggle when she stumbled across the perfect vintage gown embossed with lily of the valley - her wedding flower
but she also managed to find THE perfect first dance gown - an alex perry runway original - this girl can shop let me tell you…
bridesmaids frocks were also original 1920’s flapper gowns…
…and then there is the shoes…katy loves shoes…like maybe loves mat just slightly more than she loves shoes…hello christian louboutin…not one - but two pairs
the boys were being pampered just down the hallway, so we paid them a quick visit…and presented mat with katy’s gift…a red brocade album of her bleu portrait shoot, hel-lo vintage boudoir…
while guests enjoyed afternoon tea, we ventured out into the sunlit gardens of caves house to meet jennifer…driven quite a distance by russell hall, katy’s ever so kind boss…
group portraits are always a laugh, especially when groomsman think “snuggle up” and “cheeks nice and close” is referring to them, not the bride and groom…
all too soon the light faded, and we retreated upstairs to partake in divine nibbles and a few sweet vintage images…
mat was oh so keen to start the party…
speeches, like most, were funny and poignant and sometimes sad…but no speeches before have ever been so revealing about the bride and groom as these were…it was an all in “truth or dare” session with no dares…the mums, dad and brother kept no secret and admitted waiting until this day to spill the beans on both…
simon healy, dj/celebrant/radiohead, has surprisingly never been a bestman before…his epic 17 page speech was hilarious, long, funny, lengthy, original and went for an incredibly long time…
during which time he channeled jimmy swaggart, billy graham and tammy baker for maximum effect…
mat surprised katy with his gift of there very own star to gaze upon…
quick dash upstairs to the awaiting alex perry - mat had no idea this day included TWO complete gowns/shoes/accessories/headwear - katy was hoping the stunning vision before him would erase any concerns
hello ben and jess - we met mat and katy at their wedding last year - lovely to see you two again
mat, being a radiohead, just had to have a go before the night was through…
and then oh too soon, it was time to pack up his bouquet and dilly bag and head for the honeymoon suite…
