sean and liana ~ ever after

tall strong sean and beautiful clever liana found us on the net, and we are so pleased they did…sean and his merry men (all 5 of them) merrily invited us in for a few laughs whilst mum ironed 6 crisp shirts…and just over the way was liana and the girls (dad quietly reading the paper, talented mum carefully putting the finishing touches to the bridesmaids gowns) … sean and liana planned a late ceremony at watershed, and with minimal time for photos decided on a “first look”…bride and groom meet before the ceremony and - along with tears and laughs - this provides an ideal time to capture these two lovebirds…unknown to anyone at the time, this first look was a blessing in disguise (but more on that later)

we travel to watershed and we a little suprised to see only a handful of the 100+ guests, so was the jen etherington the celebrant and the gorgeous watershed staff…after a phonecall we find out the bus had not arrived to bring the groom and his men AND ALL THE GUESTS from the hotel to watershed…and the ceremony was rescheduled for an hour later…liana confessed to me she would have been a complete wreck if we had not planned the first look pictures earlier on…

one of the bridesmaids suggested this image that she had seen before…i think we did it better and quirkier and with more of giggle…

seans dad (handsome fella on the far right of first picture) has not seen all his brothers at the same time for many years and we tried to group these funny english gentlemen together for a historical picture…note i said “tried”…by this time in the night everyone is a comedian or in the toilet…and then mike decides to get in on the act also!  i felt like i was at home with the boys frustratingly screaming orders…and then before i could say “one more” they all disappeared in a flash…men! bahhh!

venturing out in the night with liana and sean for some moody night pictures, we discover the boys have been busy with seans car…pity it was still over 30 degrees and shaving cream just slips away…nice job fellas…

Choosing the photographer for our wedding was always a big priority for us, and I spent months searching the internet, with hours spent reading blogs of various photographers, and pondering over styles of photography. Then through the joys of facebook you were recommended to us by a friend, I had one look at your blog and knew we were onto a winner (and then panicked that you might not be available!!!). Little did I know that there was so much more to choosing photographers than just the pictures. It was when we met you late one evening in your office that I realised the MOST important thing was having photographers who you were comfortable with and that were FUN!! We walked out of your office that night and cancelled the rest of our plans to meet other photographers that weekend! You had both made us so comfortable, and we felt like you were old friends! And my blog obsession began!! Seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day was such an awesome moment, and to be able to do this in such an intimate and private way made it that much more special. You guys really set the moment for us, and we were able to totally focus on each other and enjoy every reaction and all the emotion of such a memorable moment.  The rest of our day ran smoothly, and we had a ball having photos with our bridal party! You somehow managed to take a group of people who are reluctant to have photos taken and got us all hamming it up for the camera! I didn’t think it could get any better! We had had the most amazing day, and you guys had been such a huge part of that. But then out comes the photo booth! Forget the brides dress being the most talked about part of the day!! That booth was the star of the show!! And the photos we have from it never fail to make us laugh uncontrollably!!  Kylie and Mike from the minute you walked into our hotel room the morning of the wedding, to the minute you waved us off as we left Watershed you had us smiling and laughing! You were not just pour photographers, but two VIP guests at our wedding!! We cannot wait to see our photos, but even without seeing them we know that they will have captured all the fun, excitement and emotion of our wedding day, and we will think of you every time we look at them and remember how huge a part you played in making our day awesome!!! Thanks so much  Liana and Sean

we found out so much about liana and sean from their friends and family this hot day and balmy night…they are both kind, giving and devoted young people…with the best best man in history - his speech had me doubled over in pain…and are adored by them all…thanks for finding us and inviting us and laughing with us and for agreeing to meet each other before your vows…it was so endearing and we will never forget it…

p.s mike whipped my butt for the “vampire” shot…i only held the light…at least i danced better than you (thanks for the lady gaga dazza!)

evan and kylie ~ ever after

immediately upon meeting evan and kylie we just clicked…we laughed and told stories and learnt history and shared a love of flight of the conchords…we were so thrilled to be a part of this celebration…evan is greek (dont even ask me to try and ask me to pronounce his surname that contains every letter in the alphabet) and kylie hails from new zealand…evan’s mum and dad owned the same fish and chip shop in perth for over 30 years and have only just retired (dad quietly whispered to me he is bored, but mum’s face shows the relief) and well deserved family holidays were spent surfing in margaret river.  kylie’s family flew in from new zealand to share in a sensational feast of food and wine and sunshine - quite a lot of sunshine.  this day was hot - our hottest ever - inside the tiny greek church at prevelly i am fairly certain the temp was way over 45 degrees.  there were over a 100 guests attending and tall strong handsome evan succumbed to the heat during a part of the ceremony, but recovered with fanning by lots of greek women and that all important sip of red wine…

the ceremony - oh my golly gosh - our first big fat greek wedding and what a treat it was…the whole service is sung - by not one but two priests.  one sings and the other repeats - in song. it is busy.  and there is so much that happens. the rings are put on by the priest and the best man.  the crowns are placed on their heads by the priest and another groomsman. the whole entire bridal party walk “laps” around the altar. and it is all in greek.  and we had no idea what was going to happen and when.  (neither by the way did kylie or her family :) ) we smiled when everyone else smiled, we prayed when everyone else prayed and mike - shoved in tight in a corner up the back under the watchful eyes of priest number 2 making sure he didnt cross “that line” - quietly asked a lovely greek lady what was about to happen.  this kind soul took it upon herself to prompt/nudge/tip mike on all the important bits…thank you aunty lovely lady… :)

without any further ado…feast your eyes on the lovliness…

evan was still slightly off colour - but there were so many locations that were incredibly important to him and his new bride that he stoically walked up and over rocks and through forests filled with a million flying ants and a thousand angry march flies (entree served - check -  100 bites on legs - check) to enable us to capture these incredible pictures…

but the heat was just so unbearable that we retreated with energy from two packets of starburst to the margaret river hotel, enjoyed cold drinks and a cool breeze and then i spotted this light filtering oh so softly through this doorway…

off to watershed wines - which is our current fave fave fave venue - to meet up with the family and friends and dj darren (woot!)

just when we thought we had seen and heard and laughed all the “greekness” there was to be enjoyed..dj dazza cranked up the greek dancing and this did not stop until we were kicked out…these are mikes pictures (i was in the crowd with my arms around aunty and uncle)…

“Hi Kylie & Mike

Just wanted to again thank you for making our day, from the dress advice, through to the can of lemonade when it was needed and the drinks at the pub, you two are truely one of a kind. ? ?You impressed not only us but the entire wedding party and guests. Matt the best man is still singing your praises to all that listen and Evan’s neice spoke so highly of you two, to her Mum that she has either booked you or is planning on booking you for her wedding.? ?There is nothing stronger then word of mouth and we have nothing but the higest praise for you both. You truely added to the magic of the day and enhanced it with your jokes, laughter and love. We aspire to be as happy and content as the two of you are.? ?Loved meeting you and sharing the day, and I’m sure our greek wedding made a lasting impression, what a ceremony!
